                   Gozos (Batobalani sa Gugma)

The Sinulog Festival is one of the foremost celebrations of the Santo Niño (Infant Jesus) in the Philippines. The adoration of the people of Cebu towards the religious patron has been pronounced ever since the Spanish explorers lead by Ferdinand Magellan landed in the Philippines on February 17, 1521. It was the Santo Niño that captured the hearts of the native islanders to convert to Christianity. The Gozos (Batobalani sa Gugma) is the choral song that the people sing during the lavish parades and festivities during the Sinulog Festival which is observed during the third Sunday of January each year. The celebration usually lasts for 9 days.

The Action Stars of The Philippine Cinema

                                                           Series One

From the decades past, from the late 50s to the early 80s, These action stars dominated the movie industry with portrayals of both heroes and villains. Max Alvarado, along with Rodolfo "Boy" Garcia, had played countless characters both protagonists and antagonists. While highly skilled swordsman- Johnny Monteiro, dubbed " The Douglas Fairbanks of the Philippine Cinema", skirmished and leaped like any European fencers into the dear hearts of his fans. Moreover, there was the tragically lost at an early age- Jess Lapid who was an incredible stuntman and fight coordinator.

At present, the Philippine Cinema has gotten inundated with "Romcoms- Romantic comedies" and heavy dramas while  the rest of Asian movie countries like Hong Kong, Thailand and, even the emerging Indonesia has flourished in the action genres.

Gone were the days of heroes versus the villains, the ultimate passion play of good versus evil. The last of the great action artists like Fernando Poe Jr. and Rudy Fernandez have all gone to heaven. Moreover, those that were left behind like Robin Padilla, Philip Salvador, and Cesar Montano have all gone soft and converted to dramas and comedies.
